Providence man guilty of trying to kill ex-girlfriend and mother

A Providence man has been found guilty of attempting to murder his girlfriend and her mother.

Francisco Diaz, 33, of Providence was found guilty on April 17, of two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon in a residence with intent to commit murder.

He was also found guilty of one count on each of the following: discharge of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime resulting in an injury, use of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and carrying a pistol without a license.

The State proved on April 23, 2014 Diaz tried to kill his ex-girlfriend and her mother after an argument on Oxford Street.

Diaz was arrested a few days later in the Bronx and was held without bail ever since his arrest.
