New Bedford teen sentenced for armed robbery

A New Bedford teen has been sentenced following an armed robbery that occurred in June of 2014.
19-year-old Anthony Rice will spend three and a half to six years in prison after robbing Costa’s Cash Express on Union Street. Police say Rice was armed when he punched the 27-year-old female clerk several times. She suffered minor injuries.
Rice was taken into custody three weeks after the robbery and has been in the custody of the Sheriff’s Department ever since.
He will be transferred to a State Prison facility to complete his sentence.
