PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts has hired a new grants manager with local ties.

The state agency says Providence resident Adrienne Adeyemi will manage its programs and services for arts and nonprofit organizations as well as its grants management system.

Executive director Randall Rosenbaum says Adeyemi’s involvement with the local arts community appealed to the agency.

Adeyemi holds an undergraduate degree in studio arts and screen studies as well as a master’s degree in public administration from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.

She was previously the development associate for stewardship and operations at the Moses Brown School in Providence.

Adeyemi graduated from Classical High School, where she participated in the school’s nationally recognized New Urban Arts program. She was later a mentor in photography for the program.
