New Cranston superintendent appointed by school committee

The Cranston School Committee has announced their appointment for the next superintendent of Cranston schools.
The school committee voted unanimously Tuesday evening to appoint current assistant superintendent Jeannine Nota-Masse to replace Superintendent Judith Lundsten after her retirement at the end of this year.
“Mrs. Nota-Masse’s vision for the success and growth of Cranston Public Schools are compatible with the long-term plans set in motion by the Cranston School Committee. We are confident Jeannine will make decisions that are in the best interests of Cranston’s students and parents and we look forward to supporting her to continue to improve the school system,” said Janice Ruggieri, Chair of the Cranston School Committee.
Mrs. Nota-Masse began her career as an English teacher in Providence Schools before coming to Cranston as the Cranston East assistant principal in 2001. in 2006, she was promoted to assistant principal for academic affairs. In 2008, she left Cranston briefly as principal of East Greenwich High School before coming back to Cranston in 2010 as the executive director of educational programs and services. In 2012, she was promoted to the position of assistant superintendent.
Mrs. Nota-Masse is also a long-time Cranston resident.
