Four students at Juanita Sanchez Educational Complex were sent to the hospital for medical evaluation Tuesday after complaining of similar symptoms.

Christina O’Reilly of Providence Schools says the students admitted to consuming cookies suspected of having contained a controlled substance prior.

O’Reilly says the Providence Public School Department has a zero tolerance policy for controlled substances on school property and appropriate action has been taken following the incident.

The matter is currently pending a Student Affairs hearing and Providence Police have been notified.
