Dozens came out for a candlelight vigil Thursday night, hours after a 21-year-old woman was shot and killed in her car in Providence.

The family and friends of Briana Giorgio joined together to pray for justice and for violence in the city to stop.

“She was well loved,” said Brian Hodgkins, the father of Giorgio. “She has a good heart. She didn’t hurt nobody.”

“I just hope that whoever did this is penalized for it because nobody deserves this,” said Giorgio’s girlfriend Courtney Gomes.

A growing vigil of candles, flowers and balloons sits feet away from where Giorgio was killed.

Giorgio was shot while in her car ultimately crashing into the fence at Webster Elementary School. Her dad has no idea who could have done this, but says his daughter may have gotten mixed up with the wrong crowd.

“It has to be exactly it, you know she was steered down a line,” said Hodgkins. “These young kids when they do this stuff they should think of the consequences you know.”

Police are still searching for Giorgio’s killer. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
