The Roger Williams University School of Law and The Rhode Island Center for Justice gather along with members of the bench and bar to officially commence the Center for Justice.

The new Center for Justice is a new nonprofit public interest law center that will allow the demand for increased access to justice in the state.

The center could possibly offer new attorneys hands on experience as well.

The Center for Justice’s Board of Director’s Chair Miriam Weizenbaum said “The Center for Justice will be a voice for those who would often otherwise be without qualified legal assistance.”

Roger Williams University Dean Michael Yelosky said “It will create opportunities for some of our graduates to have a formal period during which they receive high quality and intensive training that will help them cross the bridge to practice better equipped to serve their clients.”

At the moment the Center for Justice is supporting low income families through affiliations with Fuerza Laboral, a workers’ rights center in Central Falls, the George Wiley Center, a community organization in Pawtucket and the Community Action Partnership of Providence.
