The Rhode Island State Police arrest a man for allegedly filing a false insurance claim for one million dollars.

On April 8, Richard Dorval, 45, of Cranston was arrested for filing a false insurance claim declaring his uncle was killed in a bus accident.

An accidental death insurance policy was taken out on the uncle in the amount of one million dollars.

The insurance company would pay the beneficiary one hundred percent if the victim was killed while riding in any public transportation including air and water. The beneficiary was Richard Dorval.

In February 2014, Dorval allegedly submitted inaccurate documents letting Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company know his uncle was killed in a bus accident in Haiti.

The insurance company and Police say only minor injuries were reported and there was no proof that Dorval‘s uncle was on the bus and the documents proved to be false during an investigation.

In August 2014, the Mutual Omaha Investigators questioned Dorval about the claim and he withdrew.

Dorval was arrested and booked at the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks and arraigned at the Third Division District Court and released on ten thousand dollars surety bail.

He is scheduled for pre-arraignment on April 29
