Brown releases sexual assault task force’s final report

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Brown University has released the final report of the school’s Sexual Assault Task Force with recommendations for handling sexual and gender-based harassment and violence.
President Christina Paxson announced Tuesday that university officials would review the recommendations before issuing a formal response before the semester’s end.
The report urges the university to implement a unified policy toward sexual and gender-based harassment and violence that would apply to all members of the Brown community.
It also calls for enforcement of the policy through a newly created Title IX office led by the Title IX program officer, a new position that will be filled in May.
The final report comes on the heels of a student protest in March for what some say was the school’s mishandling of a sexual assault case.
