Man arrested for having loaded handgun in New Bedford park

NEW BEDFORD, MASS. (WLNE)- New Bedford Police have arrested a man for walking around a park with a loaded handgun.

Residents called police on Saturday with concern of a man walking around Monte’s Park with a pistol.

Upon arrival, police found 18-year-old Donnie Moniz in possession of a loaded pistol, along with 11 rounds of ammunition.

Moniz is being charged with illegal possession of a pistol.
