3 arrested in illegal gambling operations

By News Staff
Rhode Island State Police and Federal agents have shut down an illegal gambling operation after two early morning raids.
One of the places targeted was the Toscan Social Club on Spruce Street in Providence. Investigators say raids at that location, and at Avalon Entertainment on Douglas Pike in Smithfield, led them to seize more than $100,000 and 30 illegal lottery terminals.
Three men were arrested as a result of the raids, which State Police say have been on-going for more than three months.
All three suspects were arraigned at the State Police Lincoln Barracks and released on $10,000 personal recognizance. They are scheduled to appear for a pre-arraignment conference on June 8, 2015 in Superior Court on the 5th floor of the Garrahy Judicial Complex, 1 Dorrance Street, Providence.
