New Bedford mother spearheading seatbelt campaign

A local mother whose daughter died a few weeks ago in a crash is now using her pain to try and save lives.

Cindy Surprenant’s 22–year–old daughter Theresa was in the back seat of her friend’s car when it crashed on route 18 in New Bedford earlier this month.

Theresa wasn’t wearing her seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Cindy is convinced her daughter would have been alive too if she had buckled up.

She’s now making it her mission to spread the word about how seatbelts save lives.

Cindy is throwing a fundraiser Saturday, March 28th, called rockers for seatbelts. The money, going to a campaign to help spread the word.

The fundraiser goes from noon to midnight at the VFW post in New Bedford.

Tickets are ten dollars.
