Police arrest a man on March 27 for threats to harm members of the Police Department through a public Twitter account.

The Rhode Island State Police Department arrested Corey Coelho, 20, of Warwick for threats to Public Officials.

Officials say threats were posted to the State Police’s Twitter account and were also viewable on Coelho’s Twitter page.

Police obtained an arrest warrant and the suspect was arrested at his residence.

Coelho was arraigned at the State Police Wickford Barracks and released on personal recognizance.

He is set to appear in court on May 4, at the Third Division District Court.

Colonel O’Donnell said in a statement, “We take any threat towards our Troopers seriously. We will track those who feel the need to enter into this type of discourse and hold them accountable.”
