One day after jurors in the Dzhokhar Tsarnaev trial got a look at the bullet ridden boat that the bombing suspect was captured in, the boat’s owner who is also the man who found him took the stand.
Watertown resident Dave Henneberry told jurors that after the shelter in place order was lifted on April 19th 2013, he noticed the shrink wrap was loose on his boat, The Slipaway II.
Henneberry says when he went to check it out he discovered an injured Tsarnaev hiding in his boat.
He told the jury, “I could see his boots.” “His pants.. lying on the side, no movement at all.”
Henneberry said he took everything in for a split second before running back in his house to call 911.
During that testimony jurors saw a new picture of the carved message inside of the boat which read “stop killing our innocent people and we will stop.”
Next up on the stand, a longtime friend of Tsarnaev’s Stephen Silva.
He testified that he gave Tsarnaev the gun that was used to kill MIT police officer Sean Collier.
Silva said Tsarnaev told him that he wanted the gun to rob someone at URI.
The Defense… used Silva’s testimony as an opportunity to confirm their stance that Tsarnaev was influenced by his brother Tamerlan.
Silva admitted to posting on Facebook that he thought Tamerlan influenced Dzhokhar.
Silva made a plea deal with prosecutors for his testimony.
Also on the stand Tuesday, two FBI agents.
Testimony is set to resume on Wednesday.
