The state of Rhode Island‘s largest union of state employees has approved a proposed settlement made by the state in regards to the 2011 pension overhaul lawsuit.

AFSCME Council 94 members in state jobs voted 1231 in favor the settlement and 1036 against. Municipal employees voted 534 in favor and 299 against.

A trial date for the lawsuit is scheduled for April 20th. It is unclear what this means for the lawsuit due to a gag order put on both sides.
