The second it was announced that PC was headed to the NCAA tournament in Columbus, Ohio, seniors Charles Groeschke and Angelo Marciano were ready.
“We wanted to make sure the laptop was charged. We had the backpack and we were ready to go,” Groeschke said.
“It was pretty simple. Since we were so well researched we had all the tabs saved and we just hit submit,” Marciano added/.
The trip will cost them about a thousand dollars each, but they say it’s well worth it to see history.
“It’s something I am never going to be able to do again. It is our last chance as undergrads to get to see them in the tournament. It is within reach. So I think with both feel fortunate to be able to do this,” Groeschke said.
No one knows PC basketball history like the voice of the Friars John Rooke. He’s been calling their games for 27 seasons and thinks this team may have what it takes to make a run.
“This team is equipped to do some damage. I am not saying they will because that is the beauty of march madness upsets happen,” Rooke said. “But I don’t think the friars will be afraid of that challenge at all. I expect this team to have some success if they do what they are capable of doing.“
Rooke says Friars superstar Kris Dunn is poised to introduce himself to the nation.
“He could be a star in this NCAA tournament coming up,” Rooke said.
Dunn and the Friars are causing quite the buzz on campus. “Who do we match up well against? Who do we think Kris Dunn is going to blow by and jam it into the hoop? I think that is the buzz that is on campus. It is only going to get bigger as the game gets closer,” Marciano said.
