Group pleads guilty to Forsyth St home invasion

Five people have pleaded guilty to their roles in a violent home invasion of Forsyth Street in Providence last July.

Miguel Perez, 21 of Providence, pleaded guilty Thursday to burglary, conspiracy, weapons and assault charges.  Perez was sentenced to 40 years with 20 years to serve and the remainder suspended with probation, non-parolable. 

Evan Waston, 24, of Providence, pleaded guilty on March 12 to burglary, conspiracy, weapons and assault charges. Watson was sentenced to 40 years with 30 years to serve and the remainder suspended with probation, non-parolable. 

The other three individuals, Tommey Ngo, 24, Vypatda Sophan,23, both of Providence and Venessa Potter, 23, of Central Falls, pleaded guilty to their roles in the home invasion and are waiting to be sentenced.

The Attorney Generals office say on July 11, 2014 Sophan and Potter knocked on the front door of a residence while the three men waited for the owner to open the door, then forced their way in. The group was looking for money.

A struggle ensued leading to the suspects shooting two individuals. The two individuals shot suffered minor injuries.
