The Department of Environmental Management’s Division of Parks and Recreation has announced that the opening of a new golf course in Warwick has been delayed.

Due to environmental impacts from the winter, the golf course supervisor determined that the current conditions at Goddard Memorial State Park are not in good enough condition for the course. Wet conditions from snow have made the area unplayable for golf.

Parks and Recreation staff will reassess the golf course conditions in two weeks to try and determine a new opening date.

DEM says that there will also be a delay in the opening of the George Washing State Campground in Glocester and the Burlingame State Campground in Charlestown due to remaining snow and other factors.

George Washington campground facilities are expected to open on April 18th and Burlingame campground on April 24th.
