A New Bedford grocery store was evacuated Saturday afternoon after a partial roof collapse. Police confirm that part of roof at the Price Rite on Hathaway Road gave way around 3 PM.
Officers say a gas main was broken during the collapse, and a strong odor could be smelled. The utility was called it to turn it off.
The plaza was evacuated, and there were no injuries.
Police say they are looking at clogged drains as a possible cause.
