Out-of-towner arrested in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, RI_ A Virginia man was arrested and charged for carrying a firearm without a license.
The Rhode Island State Police have arrested Deonte Ellis, 23, of Virginia on March 21st.
Ellis was originally stopped for a seatbelt violation on Route 138. A probable cause search lead Police to seizing a .40 Caliber Ruger hand gun.
Officials then took him into custody and transported him to the Wickford Barracks.
He was charged with carrying a pistol without a license.
Deonte Ellis was processed and arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released after posting $25,000 surety bail.
The two passengers in the vehicle were released and not charged.
