WARWICK, RI- A room full of fire victims sat before Warwick mayor and fire chief wanting to know why their condos burned for hours and who’s responsible.

Fire fighters had trouble taming the fire because of a broken hydrant and several others that had low pressure.

Mayor Scott Avedisian said, “What we know is that the hydrant was not working for this building and so we need to do and check– we had to go and check to make sure that the other buildings were appropriately working and that they would have adequate water pressure.”

Investigators are also looking at space heaters residents say were being used to dry the building after a partial roof collapse.

Flames poured out of the Westgate Condo Complex for hours Wednesday leaving nearly 100 people with nothing.

Social service agencies were also at Sunday’s meeting to assist residents. Despite the loss, many have been overwhelmed with community support.

Fire victim, Rhonda Wright said, “A woman gave me a gift card and I went for an oil change and it was no charge. You don’t realize until you are in a position like this– tribulation in your life how kind people can be.”

A full investigation report will be released Wednesday.
