NORTH ATTLEBORO, MA_ On Wednesday March 4, the roof of the old Webster building collapsed.

The North Attleboro Fire Department tells ABC6 a neighbor heard a loud noise and was concerned about the building.

Upon arrival, fire officials saw the roof collapsed inside the building itself and a large portion was destroyed.

The debris does not pose any danger, and no injuries or people inside were reported. Most of the debris is viewable from the Peterson Street side.

Town Officials ordered the demolition of the building to prevent further collapsing of the structure. Another worry is if the building continues to collapse, they are concerned the debris will fall onto the Broadway side roadway.

Last year, several people complained the building was a safety and fire hazard.

The wood-framed building was constructed in 1898 and was once a place where flatware and jewelry were made.
