A fast moving fire ripped through a multi-family home in Central Falls Wednesday night.
A cat was found dead inside of the house and a dog was still missing as of 11pm.
The Jenks Avenue fire broke out around 8 o’clock. Those who live in the building say it all happened very quickly.
“My house was just all smoke in like an instant. I didn’t even have time to get my medicine or to grab my pictures. Nothing, you just had to go,” said Millie Gouveia.
Gouveia lives on the opposite end of the home where the fire started.
“Where am I going to live? What am I going to do? Where am I going to go? It’s frightening. I just never thought I’d live through this,” said Gouveia.
The Central Falls Fire Chief tells ABC6 News the fire started in the basement on the left side of the house.
He says live electricity made it difficult for firefighters to battle the flames.
“We had a very difficult time because the electricity was live. We actually had to call an extension ladder because they couldn’t get the National Grid truck down here,” said Chief Robert Bradley.
Investigators believe the fire was accidental.
