Snowy sidewalk dangers

A man was walking along a section of
Newport Avenue Pizzeria employee, Maythi Perez said, “I’ve seen a lot of pedestrians walking in the street just because the sidewalks aren’t clear and like there’s a lot of ice on it and you can’t walk in like snow that’s more than like knee deep and it’s just really tough.”
Nearby workers say they see people walking in the streets all the time. Some parts of the sidewalks are completely blocked by snow.
City councilor, Mark Wildenhain sent a statement saying, “Public Works have tried to clean as much as possible, but it’s very difficult for the city to keep up and manage with the amounts of snow and snowstorms we’ve been getting every week.”
The victim was wearing a bright red jacket. Police are looking for the driver who left the accident scene.
No word on the man’s condition but other walkers say they are more comfortable walking in the street because the sidewalks are harder to walk on.
