North Providence murder suspect pleads not guilty

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A North Providence man charged with manslaughter faced a judge Wednesday.
Mark Santilli, 60, is accused of stabbing Torrez Lumpkins inside a home on Smithfield Road in October.
Lumpkins was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he later died.
Police said the stabbing wasn’t a random act of violence, and that the two men knew each other at the time.
Santilli pleaded not guilty in court, and his bail was set at $100,000.
His attorney said he will present a self-defense case, and will be back in court May 23.
