PROVIDENCE – Jurors in the Aaron Hernandez murder trial took a field trip Friday, touring the area of the crime scene and key sites in the case.

Hernandez is accused of the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd, who was dating his fiancee’s sister.

A police motorcade flocked the coach bus carrying the jurors, lawyers from both sides and the judge. Hernandez was not allowed to go.

Officers closed off the streets while the jurors toured.

First, they saw several cell phone towers that picked up data investigators used to build the case.

Then, they spent some time outside Lloyd’s home near Boston. They saw the house across the street with the surveillance camera that captured video prosecutors showed in opening statements. They say it shows Lloyd getting into the Nissan Sentra Hernandez drove with passengers Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz.

The media approached Lloyd’s mother and sister after everyone left, but no comment from them.

After, jurors visited the industrial park where Lloyd’s body was found, before touring Hernandez’s 7,100 square foot home in North Attleboro. They spent about 45 minutes in there and saw the basement where Lloyd’s girlfriend Shaneah Jenkins testified the two men smoked pot together on occasion.

The defense had been previously ordered to remove dozens of photos and football memorabilia put up after the murder.
