The MBTA is now open on a limited schedule after crews were out clearing the ice and snow off the rails all day Tuesday.

The Providence commuter rail is one of those stops up and running Wednesday.

For the most part, everything is back to normal. The commuter rail is running on a slightly modified schedule, making about 70% of the trips normally scheduled.

The Green and Blue lines have fewer cars on the tracks than usual. The Red line, which had a car filled with 50 people, got stuck out in the elements during the worst of the storm and will only have service between Alewife and Ashmont and Braintree and JFK.

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker criticized the T service for running so poorly during the storm, but the MBTA General Manager defended her decision to shut it down during what she called a “perfect storm” of events.

In Rhode Island, RIPTA has said it will be helping out by offering buses for commuters at the Providence station. They will bring commuters between Providence, T.F. Green Airport and the Wickford Junction rail station since trains aren’t running south from Providence.

RIPTA says it’s working with the state Department of Transportation to offer the special limited bus service Wednesday.

For the inbound service, the last bus to depart Wickford leaves at 1:10 p.m.

For the outbound service, buses are scheduled to leave the Providence train station for points south at 3 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:20 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
