MBTA chief stepping down after Boston transit snow delays

BOSTON (AP) _ MBTA General Manager Beverly Scott is stepping down as head of the public transit agency.
The sudden resignation came Wednesday. The agency has come under fire for its on-again, off-again service problems during a spate of recent snow storms, including the decision to suspend its subway and rail service on Monday night through Tuesday.
In a letter Wednesday to the chairman of the state transportation board, Scott said she would be leaving her post on April 11.
Scott did not give a specific reason for her departure. She said she would focus attention during the next two months on restoring normalcy to the system after the tough winter storms.
Her resignation came hours after the board unanimously approved a vote of confidence in Scott.
