PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ State health officials plan to organize a vaccination clinic at Providence College after a second student came down with a probable case of meningococcal meningitis.

The Rhode Island Department of Health said it was coordinating with the school, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration to offer what it called a “robust vaccination regimen” for all Providence College students.

Officials say a shipment of a new vaccine considered effective against type B meningitis is expected to arrive in Rhode Island within days and is recommended for all students living on campus.

Officials reported a confirmed case of meningitis at the school on Monday. That student is said to be recovering at a Boston area hospital.

People who had close contact with either student were given antibiotics.
