RIPTA: 9 routes detoured due to snow

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority has announced that nine routes are on detour Monday, February 2^nd, due to snowy conditions and unplowed areas.

Routes 18, 27, 34, 49, 55, 56, 58, 87 and 92 are on currently on detour. RIPTA will continue to restore service on those routes as conditions allow and will also advise riders of any other detours due to the storm.

The following routes will be on detour beginning with the first trip of the day on Monday, February 2, 2015:

Route 18 (Union Ave):
Trips will not service Chapin Avenue and Ellery Street.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route to Cranston Street, stay left on Cranston Street, right onto the Rte. 10 on-ramp, stay right to the Union Avenue exit, left onto Union Avenue and then resume regular route.
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Union Avenue and Messer Street, left onto Cranston Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 27 (Broadway/Manton):
Trips will not service Hillcrest Village Apartments.

Route 34 (East Providence):
Inbound trips will not service the back of Evergreen Apartments. Trips leaving Evergreen will continue on Evergreen Driver, turn right onto Warren Avenue, and then resume regular route.

Route 49 (Camp St/Miriam Hospital): UPDATE
Trips will not service Miriam Hospital.
Trips will travel the regular route to North Main Street, left onto Smithfield Avenue, left onto Nashua Street, left onto Frost Street, right onto North Main Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 55 (Admiral/Providence College): UPDATE
Trips will not service Fatima Hospital. Outbound trips will terminate at Shaw’s Plaza.
Trips will not service Providence College. Inbound and Outbound trips will stay on Admiral Street.

Route 56 (Chalkstone Ave.):
Trips will not service the VA Hospital and Stop and Shop. Buses will terminate at Sisson Street.

Route 58 (Mineral Spring/North Providence):
Trips will not service Georgiaville Manor and Esmond Village.

Route 87 (Fairmount/Walnut Hill):
Trips will not service Fairmount Street and Morin Heights.
Westbound trips will travel the regular route to River Street, left onto Fairmount Street, right onto Second Street, right onto River Street and then resume regular route. REVERSE on the Eastbound.

Route 92 (RI College/ Federal Hill/East Side):
Westbound trips from Kennedy Plaza will travel the regular route to Eagle Street, right onto Eagle Street, left onto Valley Street, right onto Atwells Avenue, and then resume regular route.

RIPTA asks that passengers www.RIPTA.com for updates throughout the day. Riders may expect some delays on all routes due to weather conditions and are advised to use extreme caution at bus stops due to decreased visibility and slippery conditions.
