Two arrested in multi-agency investigation after fleeing to Connecticut

Providence Wanted Suspects

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A months long fugitive investigation has led to the arrest of two people after they fled from Rhode Island to Connecticut.

Jesueily Sanchez, 25, of Providence, was wanted for cruelty and neglect of a child. Tyshaun Peete, 25, of Providence, was wanted for failure to appear on charges of carrying a pistol without a license and resisting arrest.

The two were tracked to an address in Waterbury, Connecticut, officials said.

On March 28, members of both Rhode Island and Connecticut Violent Fugitive Task Force, with Waterbury police, found the suspects living in unsanitary conditions with their two children.

One of those children was custody of DCYF and deemed missing. An additional charge of neglect to a child and cruelty to person was placed on Sanchez and Peete.

Both children were safely removed and in the custody of DCYF.

Chief Robert Charette with the Rhode Island district U.S. Marshals released a statement on the arrests.

“This case is the reason why the United States Marshals Service has created a Missing Child Unit and has been directed to assist state and local police departments in the recovery of missing and endangered children. The toddlers recovered today did not have a voice to advocate for themselves. They were living in unimaginable conditions of squalor and abuse. I commend the work of my Deputy U.S. Marshals here in Rhode Island, the Rhode Island State Police, Deputy U.S. Marshals in Connecticut, and the Waterbury Police Department in recovering these toddlers this morning. The relentlessness displayed by these investigators is why these toddlers are now safe.”
