An East Providence man has been charged with sex trafficking two teenage girls through Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.

East Providence Police arrested Reginald Chaney, 19, late Thursday after an investigation by Providence Police and Homeland Security Investigators.

Providence Police say on January 28th, officers responded to Hasbro Childrens’ Hospital for a report of a sexual assault of a 16-year-old female.

Through the course of the investigation police say that on or about January 16th, Chaney met two teenage girls,  ages 15 and 16, and drove them to a house in East Providence, where he took pictures of the teens and posted the photos on backpack.com, a website that solicits sex.

Chaney then took the teens to a motel in Seekonk and posted the photos to the site.

Police say on several occasions, Chaney arranged for meetings between the victims and individuals who responded to ad’s.

They say the meetings allegedly occurred at the motel in Seekonk, Mass., and in Providence, Warwick and Pawtucket.

Police say Chaney allegedly threatened to taser the teens and did so at least once.

Chaney is charged by way of a federal criminal complaint with sex trafficking of a child and/or by force or coercion, and transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

He is being held as a probation violator on 5 year suspended sentence imposed on January 14th on a weapons charge.
