Woman, 33, charged with murder in New Bedford killing

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A New Bedford woman is being charged in connection to the death of a 62-year-old man.

Chelsea Pimentel, 33, was arrested Tuesday by police in New Bedford.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said that police conducted a wellness check at about 1 p.m. Monday at a home on North Sixth Street. When they arrived, police found Kevin Stoughton.

Pimentel, the district attorney said, was living at the home owned by Stoughton at the time of his death.

Pimentel was charged with murder and assault and battery.

According to court documents obtained by ABC 6 News, Pimentel, who’s five months pregnant, met with investigators at the police department, telling them that Stoughton coerced her into giving him “sexual favors” in return for her sleeping on his couch.

The documents went out to state that on Monday, the 33-year-old started chest compressions before texting her father a picture of Stoughton, saying, ” I got the [expletive] who did you wrong back in the day. He gone.”

Pimentel also texted her mother a picture of Stoughton, saying, “He dead,” read the documents.

Court documents showed that it was Pimentel’s mother who reported the incident to police.

The 33-year-old pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday and was held without bail.
