State fire marshal seeks help with investigation surrounding two law office fires

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The state fire marshal is seeking the public’s help in their investigation of fires at two law offices.

The first fire tore through a Warwick office building belonging to House Speaker Joseph Shekarchi last May.

The cause of that fire could not be determined, according to a report from the state fire marshal.

Another fire at a North Providence law office on Smith Street in July is also under investigation. Arson was not ruled out of either fire, and it is not clear if these were connected.

Anyone with information about the fires should call the Office of the State Fire Marshal at 401-383-7723.
