Twin River seeks approval for casino hotel

Twin River Casino has expressed its interest in having a current ban removed so that it can build a hotel on its property.
Twin River chairman John E. Taylor, Jr., went before the Lincoln Town Council Tuesday night to begin conversation about building a small hotel at the casino.
Taylor said the timing may be right to start the process, citing recent changes in the New England gaming landscape, and customers’ desire for the option to stay overnight.
“In a few short months we will begin to compete against a Massachusetts racino just 12 miles from our front door. Within another 18 months, we will be competing against destination casinos owned by premier operator Steve Wynn just outside of Boston and MGM in Springfield.”
He added that a small hotel would be a valuable amenity for the State and Town to remain competitive and keep revenue and jobs.
The 150-250 room hotel would be attached to the casino and feature a spa, small meeting rooms, and room service.
The Town Council has scheduled a public hearing on the proposed hotel to share Twin River’s thoughts and seek residents’ opinions.
Twin River executives will also have to seek assistance to remove the current law prohibiting construction of a hotel on its property.
