Johnston mayor’s son to launch mayoral campaign to fill seat

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The mayor of Johnston told ABC 6 News that he will be wrapping up his final term this year, and his son will be running to fill that position.
Joseph Polisena Jr. is now leaving his job working for Gov. Dan McKee to start working on his campaign for mayor. Polisena Jr. is also the vice president of the Johnston Town Council, and was elected to that board in 2019.
Mayor Joseph Polisena Sr. said that he will be leaving office after he proposed term limits while in office.
After 16 years of being mayor, Polisena Sr. will be finishing his final four years.
His son hasn’t officially launched his campaign.
