Gasoline container explodes in campfire, sends 11-year-old to hospital

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — Dartmouth police said an 11-year-old had to be taken to the hospital Saturday night after a gasoline container exploded in a campfire.
First responders arrived at the scene of the explosion at a home on Collins Corner Road just before 9:30 p.m.
Police said that the 11-year-old was burned after throwing a gasoline container into a campfire. None of the burns were life threatening.
The juvenile was taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital for further evaluation.
“We are all very relieved that the incident did not turn out much worse, and we certainly hope that others can learn from this dire error in judgment,” said Chief Brian Levesque.
