Man, 62, accused of setting Foster home on fire held without bail

A 62-year-old man accused of setting his home on fire in Foster faced a judge Monday.

Lawrence Lopez was charged with first degree arson.

Firefighters responded to a home on Johnson Road at about 8:30 a.m. Friday.

In court Monday, prosecutors said Lopez admitted to police that he poured gasoline on the home and used a propane torch to light it on fire. No injuries were reported.

Police said Lopez did it because his family wanted to sell the property.

Lopez was held without bail.
