Cranston man accused of shooting dog in head faces stolen firearm charges

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A Cranston man accused of shooting a dog in the head last week allegedly did so with a stolen firearm.
According to court documents, Anthony Devone, 37, is facing a charge of possession of a stolen firearm. That firearm was reported stolen from the state of Mississippi.
Devone is also charged with malicious injury to or killing of animals, possession of firearm prohibited, and firing in a compact area.
Prosecutors said in court last Friday that Devone, “didn’t feel safe having the dog around his children.”
Devone admitted to shooting the dog and leaving it behind a dumpster near a Family Dollar in Cranston, police said.
He will be in court on June 24.
