United Way of Rhode Island launches third-annual 401Gives Day.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- On April 1, Rhode Islanders went huge when it came to supporting local nonprofits through 401Gives, raising $3.1 million for 507 different organizations.

The total amount raised is not the only record broken, the total number of donors, over 12,900, and total gifts made, 20,215, also exceeded past results.

This was the first time 401Gives was able to be an in-person event, with United Way hosting at their headquarters. 401Gives began just three weeks after the start of COVID-19.

“Here in Little Rhody, we like to dream big and set high goals, and right now, there is more than three million dollars invested in our state’s nonprofit sector that was not there just one week ago and that is cause for celebration,” said Cortney Nicolato, United Way’s president and CEO. “We again saw 401Gives grow significantly, but even more importantly was that Rhode Islanders had a lot of fun in doing it. The energy around the state was incredible!”
