New Bedford police arrest man after finding cocaine, fentanyl in backpack

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford police said Wednesday that a man was arrested at a bus station on charges of trafficking cocaine and fentanyl.

On Monday, police responded to the STRA Bus Station on Elm Street for a man carrying a backpack with possible drugs. The man was identified by police as 33-year-old James Sessine.

Police seized 42 suboxone film strips, 51.5 grams of fentanyl, 66.3 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, several cut corner bags, a stun gun, a folding knife, and scissors. They also seized $3,160 believed to be from drug sales.

Sessine is charged with trafficking in 36 grams or more of cocaine, trafficking in 36 grams or more of fentanyl, and possession to distribute a class B drug. He also has eight open cases out of New Bedford District Court.
