Dartmouth man involved in tri-state pursuit held on over $800K bond
Grant waived his right to extradition back to Massachusetts.

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WLNE) — A Dartmouth man that led police on a lengthy chase through three states faced a Connecticut judge on Thursday afternoon.
State police pursed a white pick up truck through Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut Wednesday afternoon. The driver of that truck was identified as 36-year-old Ian Grant of Dartmouth.
In New London Superior Court, Grant did not enter a plea and is now being held on over $800,000 bond. His attorney said because he was not employed at the time of the police pursuit, Grant is not expected to post that.
Grant waived his right to extradition back to Massachusetts. In the meantime, he will be held in Connecticut. Prior to this incident, according to officials, Grant had no criminal history in Connecticut.
Prosecutors said Grant’s criminal history in Massachusetts spans back to 2006 for various serious charges such as assault and battery on someone 60 or older.
Authorities told ABC 6 News learned that he was also the suspect of an arson that began at his Dartmouth home earlier that day.
In Connecticut, Grant is facing reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, failure to drive in proper lane, interfere with officer — resisting, and reckless endangerment — first degree.
Grant is set to appear in court on May 11. He is also expected to face additional charges in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
