Altercation between inmates ends with stabbing at ACI: Maximum Security on lock down

CRANSTON, R.I (WLNE) – Maximum security at the ACI is currently on lock down following an altercation between two inmates that ends with one of them being sent to the hospital, with what appears to be a stab wound.

According to the Rhode Island Department of corrections, the inmate who was sent to the hospital was conscious, alert and responsive. 

The other inmate is being questioned about the incident .

The department says the facility is on lock down to make sure the area is secured, and safety protocols were activated as part of normal response procedures. 

According to a statement sent from the department, it appears to be an isolated incident and no other individuals were involved. 

 

All other staff and inmates inside the facility are safe.
