PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island College announced that this year’s commencement ceremonies will return to normal.

Graduating students will be able to gather in-person at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center for the first time since 2019.

The college held virtual and scaled back commencement ceremonies the past two years, necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic.

Maria Ducharme, president of The Miriam Hospital and RIC graduate, was also named this year’s commencement speaker.

The Rhode Island Department of Health said they will closely monitor COVID cases in the days leading up to the ceremonies.
