“Here we go! Ready and action!” called the movie director.

They are hoping it’s a “knock–out” boost for the Rhode Island economy.

The filming of “Bleed for This,” the story of legendary Ocean State boxer Vinny Paz, is underway at twin river casino in Lincoln.

Miles Teller is cast in the starring role.

“You know, Miles Teller, the hottest actor in Hollywood, playing Vinnie Paz, the greatest comeback story in sports history, and Martin Scorsese’s name attached doesn’t hurt,” said the movie co-producer Chad Verdi, from Verdi Productions in East Greenwich.

Lot‘s of locals are cast as movie “extras” in the audience.

But, a Rhode Island native has come home from Hollywood, to play Vinny  Paz’s sister.

“Well, I am originally from Johnston and East Providence, grew up here. And I now live in Los Angeles and this is amazing, to get to come back here and get to work on this film,” said Amanda Clayton, who is playing Doreen Pazienza, Vinny’s sister.

ABC6 Reporter mark Curtis said, “Right now the budget for this movie exceeds 20 million dollars with most of the filming to be done right here Rhode Island.”

“Bleed for This” will continue filming around the Ocean State for the next month.

And all the, “lights, camera, and action” will mean a lot of local jobs.

“There are so many Rhode Islanders that are being put to work, both on the crew, as extras, talent. We’ve got vendors working. It’s fantastic,” said Steven Feinberg, Executive Director of the Rhode Island Film and TV Office.

The producers have applied for Rhode Island Tax Credits to make the film here.

The movie about Cranston native Vinny Paz, is scheduled to be released in theatres last next year.
