NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Nine people, including four children, were displaced from a New Bedford home Monday afternoon after a fire broke out.

The fire happened just after 2 p.m. on Belleville Road.

Mike Lawrence, who’s a spokesperson for the city, said that the fire started on the third floor of the multi-family home because of discarded smoking materials left on the porch.

No injuries were reported.

The Rhode Island Red Cross will be helping those impacted by the fire.
