Nantucket votes in favor of topless beaches

NANTUCKET, Mass. (WLNE) — Voters in Nantucket decided to allow women to be topless at beaches on the island on Tuesday.

The resident who submitted the proposal did so to promote equality for everyone. Women currently face three years in prison and a $300 fine for going topless at beaches.

The vote passed with 327 votes for yes and 242 for no. The change now goes to the attorney general’s desk for approval.
