State Police investigating dog photographed on back of tow truck

WALTHAM, M.A. (WLNE) – Massachusetts State Police are investigating after a dog was seen on the open flatbed of a tow truck traveling down the highway Wednesday.

The incident happened on Route 95 in Waltham Wednesday afternoon.

State police contacted the owner of the towing company who told them he wasn’t aware of the incident.

“We have just been made aware of the photo that is circulating on Facebook,” said a statement posted to the tow truck company’s page late Wednesday night. “We do not support the driver’s actions and he was terminated immediately.”

State Police said The Animal Rescue League of Boston is also conducting its own investigation.

State Police said the dog is doing fine.
