Trial begins for Providence man accused of kidnapping, killing Jassy Correia

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The trial for the Providence man accused in the kidnapping and death of a Boston mother is scheduled to begin Monday.
Louis Coleman allegedly kidnapped Jassy Correia from the Boston nightclub Venue in February 2019, where she was celebrating her 23rd birthday.
Surveillance footage from Coleman’s apartment on Chesnut Street allegedly showed him carrying a body matching the description of Correia from his car to his apartment.
Investigators later found the 23-year-old in the trunk of Coleman’s car wrapped inside a suitcase in Delaware.
Coleman has pled not guilty to the charge of kidnapping resulting in death. Federal prosecutors have also decided not to seek the death penalty.
The trial will be held at U.S. District Court in Boston.
