Boy accused of having loaded gun in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford police said Tuesday they arrested a boy accused of having a loaded gun last week.

Police said that on May 5, officers were patrolling the area of “Temple Landing” housing development. There, officers encountered a group of boys near the intersection of Middle and Chancery streets and found a gun that was loaded with seven round of ammunition.

Police arrested a boy and charged him with illegally carrying the loaded firearm, which also “bore a defaced serial number.” The boy was also charged with possession of
ammunition.
